My journey with grief began long before I fully understood its weight. Losing my biological father to suicide ten years ago in July, my stepdad to cancer eight years ago this past April, and one of my best friends to cancer this past February, have each left indelible marks on my soul. All my grandparents have been gone for more than twenty years, and I recently went through a divorce after twenty years of marriage. I’ve also felt the heartache of losing beloved pets, each one a cherished companion whose absence is deeply felt. Each loss, each wound, felt like a chapter in an ever-evolving story of sorrow and healing.
